Donating Sperm

Preparing to Enter a Sperm Donor Program

Are you considering joining a sperm donor program? Here’s a breakdown of the application process and what to expect when you join the Bellevue Sperm Bank donor program.

Apply Online

Start by completing your donor application online at any time. Once submitted, you’ll receive an invitation to schedule an in-person visit to our lab.

Semen Analysis

During your first appointment, our lab team will perform a semen analysis to determine if you’re a good fit for the program. Here are some tips for preparing for your semen analysis:

  • Abstinence: At least 48 hours of abstinence is required to ensure optimal semen quality.
  • Avoid Hot Tub: High temperatures can reduce the number of motile sperm. This includes recent fevers. However, hot showers are fine.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water.
  • Get Rest: Ensure you are well-rested.
  • Bring Headphones: This might help ease any anxiety about providing a semen sample.

Medical History

You’ll complete a questionnaire about your personal and family health history to identify any genetic conditions. Our donor coordinator will assist you through this process.

Blood Work and Physical

Donors undergo thorough testing and screening to ensure donations are free of infectious diseases and identify any genetic risks. This includes:

  • HTLV I/II
  • HIV
  • Hepatitis B & C
  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhea
  • West Nile Virus
  • CMV
  • Genetic Carrier Screening
  • Routine Physicals

Why Join?

Compensation

Donors receive $100 for each qualifying donation. Qualifying samples must meet the criteria for sperm count, volume, and STI test results.

Low Time Commitment

Each donation appointment takes 15 to 20 minutes. These can easily fit into a lunch break or between other commitments.

Flexible Hours

We encourage donations at least once per week, but donors set their own schedules. We ask for a six-month commitment, though many donors stay active for a year or more. Flexible scheduling allows donors to balance their time and earnings.

Health Screening

Donors receive routine health exams, STI testing, and genetic carrier screening. This comprehensive health check-up is confidential and HIPAA-protected.

Helping Others

Your donation provides vital treatment options for people waiting to become parents. With a current shortage of donors, your contribution can make a significant impact. If you have any questions about joining the donor program, please contact us at info@bellevuespermbank.com or 206-588-1484. Our team is here to support you every step of the way.
